 Faiza Bhatti, MD

Faiza Bhatti, MD

Gastroenterology

Dr. Faiza Bhatti is a board-certified gastroenterologist with a focus on inflammatory bowel disease. She founded and now directs the IBD Center of Excellence for Mercy Hospital and has been in this position since Jan 2021. Dr. Bhatti successfully orchestrated the collaboration of three previously siloed regions within Mercy Health for the purpose of quality specialty care, and also leads and serves in the quality improvement committee for Mercy Hospital.

Dr. Bhatti has been the recipient of several teaching awards both in her training and as an attending physician. She served as a Chief fellow in Gastroenterology at Henry Ford Health, and both designed and implemented the fellowship educational curriculum, including improvements in methodology of fellows assessment and performance. Dr. Bhatti designed and implemented the management of peri-procedural anti-coagulation to allow seamless communication among different departments through Epic EHR to prevent sentinel events and bleeding complications.

Ramon A. Gil, MD

Neurology

Dr. Ramon A. Gil is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine practicing Neurology in Port Charlotte, Florida since 1989. He currently serves as the Medical Director, Parkinson’s Disease Treatment Center of southwest Florida.

Dr. Gil has a special interest for Movement Disorders: Parkinson’s disease and related conditions, tremor, dystonia, spasticity and neurodegenerative dementias. He was the Medical Director and one of the Founding Members of “The Movement Disorders Society of SW Florida”.  Dr. Gil has vast experience in clinical research, participating as Principal Investigator. His practice is the only non-academic site in SW Florida, participating in more than 150 clinical trials (phases Ib to IV) in the field of Parkinson’s disease and related disorders, Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.

He has been very active in the area of education for medical personnel, organizing and directing CME programs in various topics such as:  review courses of Movement Disorders for non neurologists, updates in Parkinson’s Disease and other related disorders for Neurologists and non-Neurologists, SWFL Neuro Psychiatric Symposium, Medical Chemodenervation for the treatment of Focal Dystonias, as well as other disorders such as Post Stroke Spasticity. Management of Spasticity with Intratechal Baclofen Pump, Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus, and Deep Brain Stimulation. He is an active member of numerous organizations including the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society, Florida Medical Association, Florida Society of Neurology (former member of the Executive Board) and Charlotte County Medical Society.

Carlos Vigil, MD

Carlos E. Vigil, MD

Oncology

Dr. Carlos E. Vigil is a board-certified Hematologist and Oncologist, with a background in clinical trial development in malignancies both in clinical practice and at a large pharmaceutical company. His clinical focus lies in leukemia and stem cell transplant, cancer research at the molecular biology level, and improving patient access to these services.

Academically, Dr. Vigil has served as assistant professor at Northwestern University, where he led the creation of a Myelodysplastic Syndrome clinic and became the inpatient clinical lead at Northwestern University. He also served as assistant professor in the Division of Hematology/Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant and Clinical Director in leukemia research at the University of Iowa, where he facilitated the growth of the research portfolio, bringing access to novel therapies in the midwest. Dr. Vigil also served in leadership roles at the Division of Clinical Oncology for severe neutropenic and stem cell transplant at Instituto Nacional de Enfermedades Neoplasicas, in Lima Peru.

Dr. Vigil completed fellowships in Hematology/Oncology at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center; Leukemia at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center; and Bone Marrow and Stem Cell at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He has also served as a member of the International Consortium on Acute Leukemia and the Venous Thromboembolism Task Force at Roswell Park Cancer Institute.

Given his vast contribution, Dr. Vigil has been awarded honors from the National Cancer Institute of Peru, the American Society of Hematology, and American Society of Clinical Oncology.
